I was lucky enough to go on a last minute girls trip with my mom and sister to Newport Beach this last weekend and it was amazing! We spent the whole weekend doing my two favorite things, shopping and eating. Friday night we ate at a local seafood favorite that has been around for years, the Rusty Pelican where I got the Chilean Sea Bass with a burre blanc sauce. YUM. Saturday we spent the morning at Greenleaf Chopshop in Costa Mesa that had a gluten free bakery to die for! We continued on to Balboa Island which looked like a cookie cutter version of a beach town with great shopping. A major perk of the trip was seeing my best friend Carolyn, who drove down from LA for the day on Sunday. Another highlight was snagging an awesome delicate gold triangle necklace at a surf shop on Balboa Island ($16) to pair with my monogram gold disc I got at Divaz Boutique in Tempe, AZ. I love being able to do these girls weekends, especially with my mom and sister who are hilarious and amazing people. I will say I hope I get my mother's aging genes :) xoxo

Spring Florals

Outfit Details:
Dress (ASOS), Hat (Forever 21), Booties (Forever 21)

This dress just arrived from ASOS and I love it! Its perfect for spring with the floral print and flowy fit, but even better with the long sleeves for those chilly spring days. ASOS always has a great selection of items for all styles, and they do free shipping AND returns! Can't beat that!

Clearly I am obsessed with Forever 21, not because I used to work at their HQ, but because I saw first hand that they are improving their quality of clothing and accessories. They still have amazing prices but you may have noticed some of those going up. Let me tell you it's worth it, especially for boots. These were $36.80 and both look and feel like they are $70+. They are constantly getting in new styles so keep and eye out, online has the best selection and they are true to size.

Stay tuned for more threads! xo

Breakfast Club

Outfit Details:
Men's vintage tee (Target), Denim vest (Forever 21), Denim cutoffs (Express), Flannel (Gap), Sunglasses (Ray-Bans), Shoes (Converse)

Inspired by one of my favorite movies "The Breakfast Club", I had a casual Sunday soaking in the warm weather in Omaha. I got to break out my new black denim cutoffs from Express, who has a bunch of styles and colors right now, and great sales. Another breakout item is the vintage tee from Target. I have a few of these that I find in the men's section. They are super soft and wear with every wash for that vintage look. These fit way better than the women's tees at Target and have way better styles to choose from. Thanks for the inspo John Bender, and stay tuned for more threads!

Neon Pop

Outfit Details:
Beanie (Topshop), Blazer (Forever 21), Shirt (American Apparel), Faux leather leggings (Macy's), Boots (Forever 21), Tote (3.1Phillip Lim for Target)

This is a fun play on the black and white look with a pop of neon. One of the great things about living in LA was the factory and warehouse sales for big retailers. I got this sheer neon button up from the American Apparel warehouse in downtown LA for $30! Sadly I can't hit those up as often living in Omaha, but I can get great finds to pair with my LA treasures. I love putting a structured blazer and bag with a casual beanie, and this bag is everything. I am obsessed with the 3.1Phillip Lim tote from his collaboration with Target. I started using it as an airplane carry-on, but it has now turned into my everyday bag, laptop bag, etc. Dream = to own a Phillip Lim Pashli, but this one will definitely work for a while!

Sport Inspired Spring

Outfit Details:
baseball hat (Forever 21), earrings (Forever 21), sweatshirt T (Forever 21), boyfriend jeans (Express), shoes (Converse), studded clutch (Francesca's)

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring and what better than to celebrate the snowless ground and warmer weather by pulling out some spring favorites!

1. Patterned or textured baseball hat: I was so excited to see these on the Fall 2014 runways and am getting a head start this spring. Forever 21 has a TON of these and are a super cheap way to accessorize. I found this one for $8.80, and spiced it up with fun statement earrings for $6.80!

2. Boyfriend jeans: These aren't new to fashion but I still love them! They work perfect for casual days or can be glammed up with a pair of pumps and a blazer.

3. Chucks: Converse have been around for years. But, they have started to make appearances all over fashion blogger's sites being paired with things other than your typical pair of jeans like skirts, shorts, and dresses. Not to mention they are cheap!

4. Sweatshirt T: Pullover sweatshirts were big this past winter and fall so why not cutoff the sleeves and pull them into Spring! They are a fun way to make casual/comfy clothes chic. I'll definitely be on the look out for more with graphics, prints, and textures!

Double Denim

http://mandyandsuch.blogspot.com

http://mandyandsuch.blogspot.com
 Outfit Details:
Chambray shirt (Forever 21), leather belt (Gap), jeans (H&M), leopard/leather clutch (Gap), sunglasses (Ray-Ban), watch (Fossil), gold bracelet (Kate Spade), assorted rings (Tiffany&Co., Madewell, C. Wonder)

I LOVE chambray shirts, and this printed one is a fun change up to the typical chambray! Some may call the denim on denim look the Canadian tuxedo, but when done right it's super chic and a simple weekend outfit. The leopard/leather clutch is a good piece to break up the solid denim ensemble, and was an awesome steal (c/o Mandy McGregor).  I've been searching for a pair of flared jeans since the fall and finally found a great pair at H&M! I ordered online since Omaha hasn't opened their Westroads Mall location yet. Ordering jeans online can be risky but since H&M is European based I ordered a size up and these worked out great.

The backdrop couldn't have been more perfect for this outing! This is in the Historic Dundee area of Omaha, next to the Denim Saloon on Underwood Ave. So fun!

Welcome to Threads of Nowhere, thank you for checking out my blog! I have been wanting to create a blog for a while now and it's finally ready with the help of my amazing Photog sister-in-law, Mandy. After living in Los Angeles the past two years following a fashion career, I moved to Omaha, Nebraska. Let's be real, LA is an expensive place to call home and when you have an expensive obsession like me, you need to get crafty. I love being able to find deals and steals of the latest trends and share those finds with other fashionistas. Obviously we'd all love a new Celine bag or a pair of Manolo's, but for most 25 year olds that's a dream world. So, for all the other ladies out there like me, this blog is for you! Stay tuned for more Threads of Nowhere!
